Its name origins from the Ancient times where we can some texts referring to an island (Topasos) on the Red-sea with beautiful goldish stones – likely this was the Topaz.
Topaz was said to be protection against sadness, nightmare, poisons and sudden death.
The Egyptians believed that the Topaz was given its goldish colour from the Sun God, Rah. This belief kept on going at the time of the Romans.
The clear Topaz is colourless, transparent but it usually contains inclusions that make is coloured, for example iron and chrome. Its shades can be yellowish, brownish, very rarely pinkish or light bluish.
In case of heating first it changes, later it looses its colour.
Topaz is mined in Brazil, Burma, India, Australia, Japan, etc.
