The Ancient Egyptians have already produced Turquoise from the mines of the Sinai Peninsula. It was highly appreciated in the Middle Ages. Some of the stones are getting paler or greener as time goes by and they considered it as the stone’s magical characteristic. Although it is still popular nowadays, Turquoise had its real heyday during the Biedermeier-Era.

In the Eastern cultures people engrave figures or sentences from the Koran and they fill out the hollows with gold. Most Arabic people wear a small Turquoise on their hands as they believe it will bring their luck.

The colour of the Turquoise is not homogenic blue, they are more often greyish or bluish-green coloured. The most popular and valuable ones are the homogeneous welkin ones.
