Tanzanite is very rare. It was only discovered in the 60s of the last century near Mt. Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania – as its name refers. Till now we only know only one locality of mining.

 

It’s a thousand times rarer than Diamond, its colour is usually amazing blue (thanks to the vanadium content), with a tiny violet-scent, sometimes it shows brownish shade. In this case, they are heating it for 500 degrees Celsius, so the brownish colour disappears and will get the deep blue colour.

 

The price of polishes Tanzanite depends on: weight, quality of polishing, colour, clarity (differently from Diamonds, the inclusions must be scanned with the naked eye).
