Peridot
Symbol of Sparkling Heart
Peridot, or Chrysolite is a precious stone belonging to the Olivins, with green colour. It has only one colour: the olive green. The intensity of the colour depends on the amount of iron it contains, according to this, some Peridots can vary from yellowish-green to brownish-green. The most precious, no doubt, is the deep olive green.
It is said that Cleopatra has received it from Antonius as the sign of his love. In Egypt, Peridot was mined already 3 500 years ago.
Peridot has become known as ’The Emerald of Nero’, that was used as a magnifier by the Caesar.
It is mined mostly in Australia, Brazil, South-Africa.
